MotoArto: A Groundbreaking Celebration of Automotive-Inspired Art

This July 3–5, London’s Bike Shed in Shoreditch will host MotoArto, a first-of-its-kind event blending the worlds of re-imagined cars and automotive-themed art. Founded by Marchella De Angelis and Kim Shaylor, the event challenges traditional views of car culture, presenting it as a legitimate art form and cultural movement.

Inspired by De Angelis’ fascination with the Outlaw car subculture, MotoArto builds on the themes explored in her award-nominated documentary The Outlaw in Me. The event highlights a growing appreciation for modified and bespoke vehicles as art, aligning with a broader cultural shift toward individualism and creative expression.

MotoArto will feature:

• World premiere car unveilings from top restorers like Thornley Kelham, Frontline Cars, and Renard

• Over 20 artists showcasing original works that rethink car culture, spanning sculpture, installation, moving image, and live art

• A live painting experience with renowned artist Sophie Tea, painting on a surprise car

• Exhibits from acclaimed artists like Lawrence Lek, Maxim, Emma Gibbons, and more

With support from Casmin Group, the event promotes inclusion and diversity, offering accessibility at various price points and a balanced gender representation in the art world. Designed to appeal to both traditional car enthusiasts and a younger, more diverse audience, MotoArto positions itself as a fresh cultural milestone in the automotive and art scenes.
