Starting with a left-hand drive 964 Carrera 2 in very good condition, which would now relieve a prospective buyer of at least £45,000, the owner completed disassembled his classic 911 taking the naked bodyshell to specialists who stripped, treated, etch primed and repainted it to better than new condition, with later 993 door handles and a 964 RS rear bumper. Custom carbon fibre parts were manufactured, including arch liners, wheel cover and transmission undertray.
The suspension was fully stripped, media blasted and then clear coated for corrosion protection. Poly suspension bushes were installed, with a KW Suspension damper and coilover kit, H&R antiroll bars, 964 Turbo front struts, Rennline top mounts and a rebuilt steering box.
Brakes also received a substantial upgrade, with the famous Big Red calipers up front and four-piston calipers to the rear. The handbrake was converted to electro-hydraulic, with stainless steel brake lines and braided stainless flexible hoses serving the calipers from a 964 Turbo master cylinder & fluid reservoir.
The cabin was completely transformed, with lightweight RS carpets and a full retrim in Alcantara and leather, including the excellent Recaro SPG Profi seats. RS door cards with manual window conversion set the doors off perfectly. A lightweight RS rear screen was fitted over a custom rear parcel shelf: note also the custom carbon fibre footboards, floor panels and pedal box cover.
The electrical system was transformed using a custom wiring harness and new rear lights. The engine and gearbox were sent to Redtek Engineering, who serviced the G50 transmission with ZF limited slip differential, also installing an RS short shift and tactile carbon gear lever.
The engine is truly the heart of this 911. Rebuilt to full 3.8-litre Cup specification with an 11.5:1 compression ratio, this flat six features flowed cases and Cup cams with competition springs and rockers. The engine is a joy to behold, with carbon intake, Patrick Motorsport pulleys, RS flywheel and clutch, cat delete with high performance exhaust, high volume fuel injectors and more. Remapped by well-known expert Wayne Schofield, power is an RS beating 320bhp with a stunning 400Nm of torque on tap.
