It’s been a long time coming, but we returned to the track for the first time at Donington Park this week, taking our development 991.2 GT3 RS MR to the first RMA track day of the year.
With a dry track all day and under mostly sunny skies, we joined our product partner JCR Porsche, who were running their latest project car, a paint-to-sample Oak Green Metallic 992 Turbo S.
Days like these are more than simple fun for us, although, we will admit that it is a pretty good day at the office! The real reason is for the testing and development of the cars and products that we sell. Absolutely nothing beats first-hand experience in running these cars, and what we learn on days like these really build on what we offer to our customers.
It’s almost impossible to miss our Lizard Green 991.2 GT3 RS in the paddock. We fitted the storied Manthey Racing kit to it for a long-term customer in 2020, but the customer never got the use from the car that he expected, and we were recently able to acquire it from him.
The kit comprises of the Manthey Racing coilover suspension kit, brake upgrade, carbon aerodynamic upgrades, and the Manthey Racing magnesium wheels with rear aero covers. The car can be set up to suit a variety of different driving styles and for road or track use, so putting the miles in on days like these where we can drive the car to the track and put it through its paces really gives us the best possible experience to advise customers from.
JCR have been spending time developing a high-performance exhaust system for the GT3 RS, and days like this allow us to test it with them in the real world. JCR now has a setup that markedly improves torque, but also passes the strict circuit noise restrictions when fitted with a set of downturn rear tailpipes, which we can fit and recommend.
JCR wowed with their latest project Turbo S, which we’ve been working in partnership on over the winter. An Inconel exhaust system with cat delete now sees the Turbo S making in the region of 850bhp and with a deliciously nasty soundtrack to match, but this is only the start for this car and you’ll soon see very big things over the summer.
We have a full calendar of track days and driving events planned this year, and extend a welcome to our customers to join us trackside. Highlights of the year to come include a cars and coffee meet at our workshop in May and a Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder double-header track day in July, with a full list of track days throughout the UK as well.
These track days are where we develop and test our product and have some fun along the way, but they are also open for customers to join us and we offer everything from simple tips through to full arrive-and-drive packages. Everyone is more than welcome to join us, and to jump in the passenger seat of the GT3 RS MR for some fun along the way!
